Moved to Erie County from Washington County in 1835. Lived in East Hamburg for several years, serving as justice of the peace and postmaster. Twice elected surrogate of Erie County; elected member of N.Y.S. Assembly in 1860. His son Warren served as an officer with the 116th N.Y.
